How to control the current density and voltage in the Aluminum Anodizing process?

Publish Time: 2024-07-30
Aluminum Anodizing, as an important metal surface treatment technology, is widely used to improve the corrosion resistance, wear resistance and decorativeness of aluminum and its alloys. In this process, the control of current density and voltage is crucial, and they directly affect the quality and production efficiency of the oxide film.

Current density control:

Under normal temperature conditions (about 20°C), the current density of aluminum and aluminum alloy anodizing is usually controlled between 1 and 1.5A/dm². This range is set based on solution temperature, concentration, part shape and other related process conditions. Properly increasing the current density helps to accelerate the formation rate of the oxide film, shorten the anodizing time, and increase the porosity of the film, thereby improving the coloring effect. However, excessively high current density will lead to enhanced Joule heating effect, increased thermal effect in the film pores, and significant local temperature rise, which will accelerate the dissolution rate of the oxide film, reduce the film formation rate, and even cause ablation of the part. Therefore, in actual operation, it is necessary to select a suitable current density according to the specific situation to ensure the quality and production efficiency of the oxide film.

Voltage control:

The voltage regulation is mainly based on the temperature of the solution. When the solution temperature is low, a higher voltage should be used to overcome the problem of large resistance of the oxide film and ensure the normal quality of the oxide film. On the contrary, when the solution temperature is high, the voltage should be appropriately reduced to prevent the film solution from being too fast due to the loose oxide film, making it difficult to obtain the ideal oxide film thickness. In addition, as the workload increases, the solution temperature will gradually increase. At this time, the voltage should be tested and adjusted at any time to ensure the stability of the production process and product quality.

In summary, controlling the current density and voltage in the Aluminum Anodizing process is the key to ensuring the quality of the oxide film and production efficiency. In actual operation, it is necessary to select appropriate parameters according to the specific situation, and monitor and adjust them at any time to achieve the best production effect.
